Ūkaipō

A creative space for artist gatherings

Ūkaipō is a versatile spaceon Symonds St designed for creatives to hire at financially accessible prices. The simplicity of the interior design provides scope for just about any event, from exhibitions, artist residencies, workshops, pop-up events, product launches, anything!

Choreographer, educator and performance arts leader Cat Ruka (Ngāpuhi, Waitaha, Ngãi te Rangi) created Ūkaipō with her daughter Lucia when they realised there was a need for artists to have access to space in the city. They wanted to provide a base where artists could feel they belonged. Ūkaipō also provides accommodation for artists at reasonable rates when they are visiting Auckland.

Cat and Lucia run Ūkaipō and together they enjoy contributing to the vibrancy of Uptown and at the same time strengthening the local arts eco-system.
