SDL Music was founded in Auckland in 1987, originally as _Scoop De Loop_, and rebranded in 2002 as the independent label it is today. Led by Neil Hannan, a cornerstone of the New Zealand music scene for more than 50 years. SDL Music is built on individuality, integrity, and creative independence.
Born from a hands-on passion for sound and electronics, Hannan’s vision grew into a record label and two custom-built studios dedicated to recording, mixing, and editing. Free from major label constraints, SDL Music supports original New Zealand artists across a wide range of genres, helping them release their music to the world through digital platforms.
With long-standing artist relationships and a deep respect for the craft, SDL Music is proud to work with some of the country’s hardest-touring and most respected musicians, including Midge Marsden, Al Hunter, Glen Moffatt, Hammond Gamble, Kevin Greaves, and the Auckland Jazz Orchestra.
