Originally opening as the North Island’s first Monteith's Bar, the Horse & Trap team strives to continue a tradition borne from the get-go - ensuring that locals in the Mt Eden area had a public house to go to which offered a great environment, excellent service, and a fantastic range of beers and food.

The pub has been an integral part of the lives of many people from in and around Mt Eden over the past few decades and its importance to the local community has reflected in it winning numerous awards including most recently the NZ Business Awards where it won the Best Traditional Pub - Auckland award for 2018.
