Mingle In The Hood

Uptown's Brent Kennedy gives us the lowdown on Uptown's networking events Words: Suzanne McNamara

Have you participated in an Uptown community event this year?

Beyond this magazine, the Uptown Business Association actively connects people in the neighbourhood. This includes community events and After Five sessions.

In February, we partnered with City Rail Link to stage the Valentine’s Day-themed Aroha in Uptown. On a sunny Sunday, local cafes and bars hosted live performers – you may have seen the popular Pacific Elvis crooning love songs on Symonds Street.

We celebrated New Zealand Music Month in May by staging Uptown Local Voices at the Horse & Trap. Four acts with a connection to the community performed a sold-out showcase on one memorable night.

Uptown After Five sessions provide an opportunity for our members and residents to get together and discuss the things that concern the neighbourhood. We’ve held sessions on the future development of the precinct and one incredibly enlightening evening with author Mark Derby on the history of Mount Eden prison.

Keep an eye out for more. It's a great way to meet more Uptown citizens. To stay up to date, subscribe to our newsletter by emailing info@uptown.co.nz.
