Venus Le Fleuve
Nicknames: Veni, Fleuve
Venus is my pal of pals. What do I love the most about her? Well she races me up the stairs, lays around in the sun on her back and try's to open doors to check in on the flattie mates. She's a scorpio queen named after the planet of love, and is multilingual/ understands Te Reo, French, and English.
Oscar is a sweet and curious wee kitty. We love that he's incredibly smoochy to his mum and dad, but knows "stranger danger" and keeps his distance with anyone new. Oscar gets the mad zoomies every evening and we love that for him.
I love her personality, that she is completely unapologetic for. She sits on side of bath and watches me shower, must inspect the toilet bowl when flushing, and could win an Olympic medal getting to the front door first when doorbell rings.
I love that she had still not acclimated to moving to New Zealand from Australia and it's constantly cold even though she's over weight and had put on a heavier fur coat.
He's very clever! Used to be completely feral but now domesticated and knows his name. I love that he has learnt to sit, shake paws and wait for food on command. His Instagram is @macaroni.bleps
I adopted Plato from SPCA when he was a wee little thing! He has grown into a fluffy majestic cat loaf and he is the most intelligent cat I've ever known. What I love most about him is the tricks he has learnt! He can sit and shake paws on command. He also knows how to ring the doorbell to get me to open the door for him when he is ready to come in.
We love everything about him. We rescued him from the street where he was living pretty rough. He was terrified of humans and now he is the sweetest little clinger!
Our cat Slippers has a disability called cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat syndrome), and this means she walks like she is drunk and her head shakes when she concentrates on something. She still leads a normal life, eating, drinking fine etc. She is the sweetest, most placid cat ever. She still loves to play even though she is the ripe old age of 8! She loves head scratches, belly rubs and to be picked up and carried around.
When I met him at the SPCA he was isolated in a room with a sign on the door that said "this cat would not be suitable in a house with other cats or small children, would be great with dogs". He ran to me and started jumping to be picked up like a puppy. He runs down the driveway to meet me when he hears my car pull up after work. Super weird guy and I couldn't love him more.
He's inquisitive and troublesome! He's a cat about (Up)town. People seem to know him and his name as he gets around the neighbourhood. He acts more like a dog. Fortunately he stays at home a bit more now as he's gotten older.
They are true proof of nature over nurture. The two most different cats you could meet. Blixa talks non-stop and Patti never talks (occasionally chirps). Blixa is earnest and nervous, Patti could not give a rats toss. They never sit on our laps but they sit close and cover us on the bed at night. Mostly, as indoor cats I love that they are safe.
Peeps is 1KG heavier than his pug (dog) brother. He has perfect symmetry of strips on his body, including the 2 tears on his ears from a brutal cat fight. This cat fight also earned him the same lightning bolt scar on his nose like Harry Potter!
Arnold is a special little cat. He's small for his age but super smart. He likes to do tricks for treats and can do pretty much everything a dog can, including completing obstacle courses. He is also getting a bit of a following on TikTok and Instagram, so please check him out if you get a chance! @auckland.arnold
Harvey was my partners cat, the first time we started dating and I went over to my partners house, I sat down in the lounge to wait for her to get ready. As I did so, Harvey jumped straight on to my lap. When my partner (who I had only been on a date with a few times) saw this, she let out an exclamation of excitement. Apparently Harvey hated everyone - but for some reason she took to me right away. Don't tell her mum, but I think she loves me a tiny bit more.
Dallas [Grey, Female] loves everyone and is SUUUUUUUPER fluffy right now. She is the adventurer and can be sassy at times. Dakota [Brown, Male] thinks he's a dog and plays fetch and brings an endless amount of sticks for me to throw. He only leaves the house to find sticks.
They are both very stupid cats but they are attractive and we live happily with them. They often sit or sleep at our glass front doors and are admired by passing office workers. They have no sense of adventure preferring to stay indoors. They are great little cats, mostly up for a pat and they love a big meow-y chat.

He always runs to the door when we get home and gives the best cuddles. We're also impressed by his 3am antics where he manages to knock picture frames off the wall far above his height (still don't know how he does it!).
We love their special characters and personalities, we think they were monkeys in their previous life's. They are the watch cats of Basque Park - Lords of Cat Town. Observing everything, everyone, passing birds and their doggie friends from Lords of Dog Town, from their high up deck and advantage point.
Harley has the privilege of living 10m from the ground in a fully fenced area. He loves looking down from afar on the neighbourhood cats, and being a voyeur! However, he's the biggest scaredy-cat ever known: he even runs away at leaves blowing around! And I love that he never leaves my side when I'm home. Cats are the best!
